“If Everything Were Predictable, There Would Be No Creativity.”
The light soughing of the wind in the grass, the barely perceptible splashing of water, sunlight glaring over old cathedrals – as if the world has stopped, oblivious of the big city’s buzz. One can say that, today, only a watercolorist can afford not to entice and entertain the public, but rather invite the viewer to the space where, at least for a moment, one can dissolve into the vague and slightly quivering air. Aquarelle is not the most popular painting technique today. Many artists are eager to invent new “original forms of the 21st century” where they strive to shed all connections with the past. However, watercolor is still alive, and it is precisely this technique that can give us that feeling of peace and inner concentration, which we lack so direly today. Going against the mainstream is the choice made by the Russian watercolor artist Anna Sidorina, which allowed her not only to experience personally the real sensation of flight and soaring over the trivial details of life, but to communicate this feeling to all those who see her works.
