Born in Yessentuki, Russia in 1960, Valery Yershov studied at the prestigious St. Petersburg State Repin Academic Insitute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. He emigrated to New York in 1989, where he first joined the Conceptual Art movement. He has been living and painting in Manhattan for more than 20 years.
Valery Yershov’s work has been extensively exhibited throughout the United States and Europe including a one-man exhibition in 2009, organized by the Barbarian Art Gallery in Switzerland in collaboration with New York’s White Box Gallery. Yershov’s paintings are in major public and private collections in the US and Europe. The Salamatina Gallery in Manhasset, New York, exhibited new paintings by Valery Yershov last year (2010). The exhibition centered upon a recent series of portraits of notorious modern celebrities.
