Matthew Stock As an artist, my canvas is a celebration, a vibrant tapestry that seeks to exalt the beauty of the female form through a symphony of vivid colors and abstract shapes. I aim to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, creating kaleidoscopes of beauty that invite viewers to immerse themselves in the mesmerizing world I bring to life. Inspired by artistic luminaries such as Kandinsky, Lichtenstein, Chagall, and modern artists such as Alex Katz and Henry Taylor. I infuse my work with the spirit of these artists, weaving a narrative that echoes their influence while incorporating my unique perspective. The dynamic fusion of my passion for vintage comic books, particularly the legacies of Jack Kirby and John Romita Sr., adds an extra layer of depth and personality to my artistic expression. My paintings are manifestations of the way I perceive beauty in the day-to-day, finding inspiration in both the spectacular and the mundane. Through the interplay of colors, textures, and shapes, I invite the viewer to experience the human form in a transformative light, transcending conventional boundaries. Working primarily with acrylic and mixed media on board, I strive to weave a variety of influences onto the canvas, reflecting the eccentricities of my personality. The permanence of the medium contrasts with the transient nature of beauty, emphasizing the fleeting yet eternal essence that my art seeks to capture. In every piece, I seek to evoke a sense of wonder and appreciation for the intricacies of existence, inviting the audience to join me on a visual journey where the ordinary is rendered extraordinary, and the female form emerges as a beacon of timeless allure.

Matt Stock, a native of Bayside, Queens, is a multifaceted artist whose journey winds from being the son of a painter to owning a business and ultimately finding his place in the contemporary art world.
His father who was a painter and art teacher, left a profound impact on his artistic sensibilities. Inspired by his lineage and what his father called Matt's "painterly touch,” he developed an affinity for painting as an outlet for catharsis. Matt Stock earned a degree in chemical engineering from Cooper Union in 1986. His passion for art emerged as he immersed himself in art classes.
Matt's art transcends traditional boundaries. He explores the intersection of science and creativity, using color and geometric forms to articulate a unique visual language that resonates with viewers. His art gives us a glimpse of his diverse and dynamic journey, reflecting his story from personal experiences, family legacy, and a relentless pursuit of capturing beauty as he sees it.
Eventually, having accumulated a significant body of work, his debut occurred in 2014 at his friend's restaurant, Effy's Cafe on W 96th St. Two pieces still adorn the walls, marking the beginning of his public artistic journey. Matt's most recent exhibitions include two shows at the Debbie Dickenson Gallery: "Chroma: The Property of Light" and "Ocean Lumination." Additionally, his work was featured at Art Expo 2024, The Hampton’s Fine Art Fair 2024 and Art of Paper 2024. Currently, his art is on display at the Montserrat Gallery in Chelsea, NYC.
