Stella Kasaeva, President of  Stella Art Foundation and Comissar of the Russian Pavillion of  2013 Venice Biennale, chose Vadim Zakharov to represent Russia. In 2011, Kasaeva, in colaboration with the renowned curator of Russian contemporary art  Boris Groys, brought to Venice the works of Andrey Monastirsky and his renowned project ” The Collective Activities”. In 2013, Vadim Zakharov will represent Russia in Venice for the second time. In 2002, Zakharov presented his sumo-wrestling project at 49th Biennale. Born in 1959 in Moscow, Zakharov is a recepient of the prestigious Kandinsky Prize of 2009. The artist works and lives in Moscow.
